Out and about....liquorice allsorts

From Fashionistable
Nicola made me smile when I asked her about her style inspirations. She told me that there are a lot of things going on in her head. That London inspires her a lot and said you can be whatever character you want to be on what ever day you choose. When I asked her what character she is today she said "today I am a liquorice allsort. The coconut one with the black bit in the middle". Her favourite place in London is crossing Waterloo bridge on a Sunday. I so understand this, it is an amazing place to be at the best of times as you can see a lot of the big London landmarks from here. Her surprise for us is that she says, she is not cool really as she is really into musicals. The favourites at the moment being Westside story and Oliver. Nicola's cardy  is from Miss Selfridge, she bought her skirt in a car boot sale in Battersea, boots are Topshop and belt All Saints.

Remember there are 5 days left to the 1st Filofax (Red Chameleon) giveaway draw. To enter you must follow me here on Blogger and on Bloglovin and let me know when you have done both. Good Luck.

Out and about....seasonal change

From Fashionistable

From Fashionistable
Already it is too cold for me. I guess the sooner I can start wearing warmer clothes the better. I would love to be able to look as good as Ulyana with this simple transitional outfit. Ulyana is a fashion designer. You can see her blog here.
The guys over at Filofax gave me a option on Friday of either keeping one Filofax and sending the rest back. Or keeping one and offering the rest to you to all my wonderful readers in a giveaway. You will all be pleased to know I have chosen the latter so you all now have a chance to win one of 4 of The Chameleon Filofax's featured in my challenge shots. I didn't know which colour to keep for myself so put all the names in a hat and drew out Aqua so that is the one I will keep. I then did the same with the other colours so I would have an order in which they will be on offer. The 1st colour up will be Red. These Filofax's are leather and retail in the UK for £65 so this is a generous prize from the Filofax guys.
To be in with a chance of winning you must follow me here on Blogger and on Bloglovin, letting me know when you have done both. I will be picking 1 winner per week. The Competition will run this week, next week and then again for 2 weeks after all the Fashion Weeks are over, so in October. This competition is open internationally. The 1st winner will be announced  on Monday the 5th of September. Good luck.

From Fashionistable
Dawn Green and Alena Dundas

From Fashionistable
Alexa Chung and Olivia Palermo

From Fashionistable
Kathryn Topp and Yukee Chen

Two years of Fashionistable. I am amazed the time has passed so quickly. It was very difficult to select images for this post. The 1st 4 have had the most page views. Alexa and Olivia to represent the well known people I met from the world of fashion weeks. My final red select, Kathryn is the 1st person I met who recognised the blog name. And my only guy because a friend mentions this shot a lot.
This 2nd year brought a few achievements starting a few days in by being shortlisted for the Vogue blogger competition, making the Most Wanted and Say 100 lists and being featured in 2 editorials.
Going to London and Paris fashion weeks were a visual treat. Cumulating with bumping into Emmanuelle Alt on my last day in Paris with no-one else around. Looking forward to September as I will be covering London, Milan and Paris this time.
And last but most importantly A GREAT BIG THANK YOU to all my wonderful followers (and those of you who just pop by) for supporting me. I really love and appreciate the encouragement you give me by being around and commenting. I feel really excited and happiness for the year ahead.
Love Dvora Xxxx

P.S. We have a long weekend here in the UK now so see you all on Tuesday. Have a great weekend.  Xxxx

Out and about....project Filofax (final day) - Colour Brown

From Fashionistable

From Fashionistable

From Fashionistable
Now I have to say when I received all the colours for this Filofax challenge of all of them I thought that the Brown Chameleon would be the most difficult to find someone for. But was amazed when Yonan crossed my path she was perfect for this. The colours she was wearing perfectly compliment this Filofax. Yonan is from a region in China called Tsingtao which she told me is also the name of her nations favourite beer. Her style influence is taken from paintings. With Van Gough being her favourite painter. Her surprise was that she lives almost like a monk, she is a vegetarian and doesnt drink or smoke. However unlike a monk she does have sex. Yonan is wearing vintage Dior glasses, her shirt and bowtie are also vintage, shorts and belt are American Apparel, tights are from Topshop and her shoes are Adidas.

I met Katya as she was walking towards Oxford Circus and thought she would be perfect for the Filofax challenge. We decided that her outfit would work well with the Aqua Chameleon. Katya is originally from Belarus and is in London studying management. Her boyfriend is a hairdresser. I love this cut she had just had it done. She told me that her style influence is love. Surprisingly she said that she is unpredictable, spontaneous and a bit cuckoo. Her outfit today is comprised of shirt and necklace from Celine, Twenty8Twelve jeans a Michael Kors bag.

Out and about....project Filofax - Colour Black

From Fashionistable

From Fashionistable

From Fashionistable
In the shots today Gemma is carrying the Black Chameleon Filofax. When I asked her if she would help me with the challenge she told me she usually carries her own Filofax with her all the time. Gemma is a stylist with Carol Hayes Management. Amazingly she is also a blogger but this was pure coincidence as I didnt know until we had finished taking the pictures. She is new to the blogging world her site is called Wear is it from. When I asked her to tell me something surprising about herself her friend said "she doesnt eat any vegetables." Gemma confirmed this saying that she does not eat any fruit, veg or salad. Gemma is originally from Glasgow so when I said "so deep fried pizza for you then?" She said "oh yes." She also told me she subscribes to National Geographic and that when she tells other people in the fashion world they usually find this surprising. I find that surprising as I subscribe to it too. Gemma's favourite place in London is the Secret Garden in Regents Park. Her style influence is her Grandma she said "I wear a lot of her stuff". She much have a pretty stylish Grandma then. Gemma is wearing a top and jeans from Topshop, shoes from River Island and her necklace says Taken and was a gift from her husband on their wedding day.
Couldn't resist showing you a close up of Gemma's shoes and toes. Very colourful.

From Fashionistable

From Fashionistable
Here is my second colour in the Filofax challenge, and my choice of The Chameleon range. I have wanted to photograph Stella for a while now as love her look. However as I have never bumped into her on the street this was the perfect opportunity to ask if I could take her picture. Of course I was very happy she was around and free to take the challenge with me, in the time frame I had to turn the images around. Stella also has a blog - Stella's Wardrobe and a great wardrobe it is. Pop along to see her other wonderful outfits. Stella's favourite places in London are "Topshop Oxford Circus, is my favorite shop, Spuntino my favorite place to eat, Soho my favorite area of London and Liberty my favorite department store." She say's "I don't really have a style influence, I just wear what I think will make a good outfit. I admire Daphne Guinness and the way she wears Haute Couture and look at magazines like Elle and Love to get an idea of the newest trends" Her surprise for us is that she studies History at UCL. Now that got me, I was sure she was going to tell me she was studying art of some form. She also told me that she lived in Germany until she was 12. Everything she is wearing here is from Topshop except for her bag which is vintage Chanel. She got her trousers in the sale for £7 what a bargain.

Out and about....project Filofax - Colour Red

From Fashionistable

From Fashionistable

From Fashionistable
A few weeks back I was asked by Slam PR who have Filofax as one of their clients to take part in a challenge they were setting bloggers. The challenge was to photograph one range from a choice of 4. My choice is called The Cameleon. I have to say I hummed and hahhed for a while weather to do it or not. My main reason being that in this age of technology were they really relevant today. I thought I didn't know anyone who used them but was surprised when I asked about that I actually did. Looking at the Filofax site I really feel they are missing an important market with their products though. I personally would like to see them doing nice electronic tablet and reader covers. Electronic gadget one side note pad the other. Anyone else think this would be a neat idea? Anyway, aside from my misgivings The Cameleon range is really very nice. Good leather and has a great texture. So how was I going to approach this? As most of my photography these days is street style it seemed the obvious way forward. To start things off I asked the lovely David from The Nyanzi Report if he would get dressed up and help me out. I have always wanted to shoot in the middle of Oxford Circus crossing. When pedestrians have right of way they are allowed to cross diagonally now as well as across the 4 corners which is wonderful to watch and be allowed to do. There is a sense of freedom as well feeling a bit naughty crossing the road this way. So I set us both a further challenge of shooting in the middle of Oxford Circus on a red light. We shot from when everyone started crossing and stayed on there until the traffic was almost about to move. Bravery won out and I was so happy with the shots I have shot the whole series here. I have been friends with David for a few years now but still interviewed him for you all. David's favourite place in London is Covent Garden. His style influence is himself "it depends on the mood I wake up in". Surprisingly he says "the man behind the mask you thought was Batman - is me". Well that certainly surprised me, I never knew my friend was a super hero. Or maybe I did. Here David is wearing a jacket from Stateless London, waistcoat from Kilgour of Saville Row, a Thomas Pink shirt, Dunhill jeans. His bowtie and pocket handkerchief (which is a cleverly folded scarf) are both from charity shops and his shoes are from Portobello Market.

Out and about....the teacher and a sneak peak

From Fashionistable
Natalie is an Art Teacher in West Hampstead. Her favourite place in London though is Primrose Hill. When I asked her to tell me something surprising about herself her boyfriend said something which I didn't quite catch and she wouldn't let him repeat it. What she was happy for us to know was that she is a competitive baker. I wonder who she competes with. She is wearing a hat from a charity shop, ASOS top, trousers from a vintage store in Brighton and Topshop shoes.
Now for the sneak peak - I  (and some other bloggers (don't know who they are yet) were given a brief by the PR agency that look after Filofax, to photograph a choice of one of their new ranges. Much more to follow tomorrow.

Out and about....Penny Dreadful Vintage

From Fashionistable
It is always wonderful when you bump into fellow bloggers and especially when you feel you have come to know each other while talking together on the blogosphere. Margaret is the author of Penny Dreadful Vintage and owner of the Penny Dreadful store. During the Vintage Festival on the Southbank a couple of weeks ago Margaret was giving tours of the original sites of the 1951 Festival of Britten. Surprisingly Margaret used to be a potter. At Uni she studied ceramics. Her course was in Brisbane which she hated (Brisbane - not the course), so moved from Australia to the UK 6 years ago.
Her favourite place in London is Cleopatra's Needle "because from there you can see all the points of interest at once". She also told me there are still holes in it caused by shrapnel from the last war. Everything Margaret is wearing is vintage and is from the 1950's. The dress is for sale and the hat - Mmm maybe.

I was having a coffee and a cake with a friend when I spotted Lian. Red lips and hair, blue dress. Beautiful combination. It turned out that Lian is part of Trace PR. Unknowingly our paths may have crossed before here. It was impossible for Lian to tell us her style influences as she represents so many cool brands. So in fairness we left the question there. Surprisingly she told me she collects dogs. At the moment she has a Lurcher and did have a Chihuahua. I asked her what her next dog would be and she told me her dogs are rescue dogs so she didn't mind. However an Irish Wolf Hound did spring to mind. Her favourite place in London is Liberties. Here Lian is wearing Prada glasses, ring by this years new jewelry designer of the year Katie Rowland and is carrying a Miu Miu bag. Her dress is vintage from NYC and her shoes are from Topshop.

Out and about....a bit of Aussie sunshine

From Fashionistable
Ebony is from Brisbane and has been in the UK for 2 years. Her surprise for us has shaped what she does. OK so the surprise is that she describes herself as "a total geek". She used to run and IT helpdesk and loves Buffy the Vampire Slayer. However now after a super dupper presentation she created she has landed a job as one of the managers of Selfridges Beauty Hall. She wanted a change, wanted to do this so went out and got it. I love this story. Her favourite place in London is the Angel for the vintage and the outdoor market. Her favourite place in Manchester (where she spent some time) is the Northern Quarter and especially Sugar Junction tea room. Here she is wearing Karen Millen glasses, Miss Selfridge top, skirt from H&M, Topshop shoes and is carrying a Marc by Marc bag. I really like how the little orange accents flow through this outfit, from the strap of her bag, the flounce of her skirt to the stripe on her shoes. Beautifully put together.

Coziana was reluctant to have her picture taken. I am happy she changed her mind. Coziana is Romanian and is a Doctor, specialising in rheumatology. She told me she is not in to shopping but she likes to wear nice clothes, describing her style as classical. Here she is wearing a coat and trousers from Zara, T and shoes from Romania, her waistcoat is from France and her bag is Pasorora. Coziana's favourite place in the London is the Southbank.

From Fashionistable
I had noticed Alex's 2 looks before I had the chance to ask her if I could take her picture. So it was great that she was up for letting me photograph both. Alex works in PR for a company called Kaper. She is a Londoner and lives in Dalston. Her favourite place in the capital is the Welcome Collection in Euston. Her style influences are music and especially Yolandi Visser from Die Antwood and her best friend who she says "is always beautifully turned out". She also describes herself as a magpie "when I see gold things I just want them". Her first surprise is that she used to own a hedgehog. Her second is her love of horses. She used to go to Pony club and still judges competitions. Alex has also ridden professionally, mainly dressage. She keeps her horse at her Mum and Dads and goes home every couple of weeks to ride it. Outfit 1. Alex is wearing a top from Dorothy Perkins, jeans are Criminal Damage and shoes are her nans. The scarf around her bun was a present from her best friend. In outfit 2. Alex is wearing a shirt from Topshop, Lee jeans, Converse and is carrying a vintage bag.

They both belong to a band called Moats and Thrones and Tom also plays with The Hursable. Alice's surprise for us is that she has bad dreams almost every night. Alice is wearing a charity shop shirt, trousers from Deptford high st, belt from Beyond Retro, shoes Folk and socks Topshop. Tom wears a T from Folk, Westwood trousers and Converse.  Alice is saluting some friends who were waiting patiently down the platform.

Out and about....the fame bureau

From Fashionistable
Portobello Road on a Sunday is a much quieter place than it's rowdy Saturday sister as the crowds have usually made their way East. I had already walked the length of the road and was on my way back when I met Ted. Ted is the MD of the The Fame Bureau where he sells high end rock 'n' roll memorabilia. He also manages a girl band called Blond (cant find a link). Ted is a Londoner and his favourite place is Hampstead where he said he grew up. Ted is wearing a jacket from Gieves and Hawkes, waistcoat is vintage Hornes, he couldn't remember where his shirt is from, jeans American Apperal, shoes are Churches and glasses Ray Ban.

Out and about....20's, war time and the rockin 50's

From Fashionistable
I am not sure Sam and Johanna had a particular era in mind for the festival. But to me they look very Great Gatsby 20's chic. Away from the festival Sam is a racing driver, racing Aston Martins at the moment and Johanna works in Topshop HQ and helps look after the Unique range. Johanna told me she ran the marathon this year in 3hrs 48 mins and 34 sec's. To Sam's surprise she beat him to the finish line. Their times were just one second apart but he said at one stage she just disappeared and he had his work cut out to catch up. Sam is wearing a Panama hat, Oxfam scarf, jacket he bought at the Goodwood Revival last year, Jigsaw trousers he has had for 10years, which have really come into their own today and Church's shoes. Johanna's dress is 40's vintage, shoes are Rupert Sanderson and she is carrying a vintage Dries Van Noten clutch.

From Fashionistable
Alex is not normally into vintage and works as an account manager for a broker. Rebecca on the other hand is in period costume every day as she works as a demonstrator at the Bemish Museum. However her daily attire for her job is from the 1850's era. Too vintage even for today. Her favourite period for dress however is the 1940's and the whole pin up girl look. Alex is wearing a Soldier of Fortune replica uniform made for the series Band of Brothers. Rebecca is wearing a Barbara Hulanicki dress and vintage House of Frazer shoes.

From Fashionistable
Louise and Alex had a free pass for the day, leaving their 3 children in good hands at home and traveling up from Southampton to the festival. They both like the 50's era best however Louise also like's the 60's up until the Beatles appeared on the scene.Their surprises for us were that Alex is fighting Tae Kwon Do for Britain in Italy in a couple of weeks and Louise said she is a left leaning Sure Start campaigner in Hampshire.  She told me her hair is Poodle style aka Lucille Ball and Betty Grable. Her sweater is 1950's from Hepwrights, skirt is a high waisted repro, earrings and bag are borrowed. She showed me the inside of the bag which was beautifully crafted and even had the original comb it came with which even had its own compartment in the bag. Isn't is cool that they are both wearing two tone shoes. Hers are from a charity shop and his are from Underground. The rest of Alex's outfit is a 60's workers shirt, 50's braces, American imported Levis and 1940's sunglasses.

Out and about....Cherries, the Bride and the Queen

From Fashionistable
Isabella is originally from Stuttgart but has lived in the UK for 9 years now. She makes shoes for Natacha Marro who was exhibiting at the festival. Her style inspiration comes from taking a little bit of vintage, high st and designer mixing it all up and making something new. Her very ADR inspired hat was made from something she found on a props website, dress is vintage and her shoes were bought in Berlin. Her surprise was that she loves Elephants.

From Fashionistable
Kate the bride and Sheena her maid of honor. This was a very original hen day out for the girls. Kate is getting married next month and is having a vintage country wedding. She was hoping to glean some hair styling tips from the events at the festival. She could also try You Tube like my ladies yesterday. Sheena works for Tommy Hilfiger and wears the brand for work. She loves fashion and said today was a great excuse to take it to another level. Kate's surprise for us is that she was Tinkerbell at Euro Disney for a while and Sheena told me her legs are longer than her dad's and he is 6ft.

From Fashionistable
Queen V has lived a very colourful life. She has just come back from OZ where she worked as a hairdresser (by trade), pole dancer and cocktail waitress. It was the girls in the salon who named her Queen V and now that she is a burlesque performer it became the perfect stage name too. She is putting the finishing touches to a new routine with a friend and together they are The Dolls of Decadence and will be preforming at Volupte in the near future. At the festival she was working for exhibiting lingerie for Kiss Me Deadly.

Out and about....all in the detail

From Fashionistable
The surprising thing about both my ladies today is that they both learnt how to do their hair on YouTube. Emma (my 1st lady today) told me that vintage is totally her scene. She always wears vintage even to work and she is a company director of a language training company. She said that modern clothing is just not cut so well. The hat she is wearing was one of her very first vintage purchases it was expensive but worth it. Emma is also a dancer and showcases dances from the 20's to the 50's and has been dancing for the past 7 years.

From Fashionistable
Felicity was one of the exhibitors at the festival. She designs and makes these wonderful hair accessories and trades as Now Voyager. Her dress is from Judys Affordable Vintage Fair who was another trader she is traveling with and it has a petticoat underneath. She told me she wears a petticoat most days. She also told me she does crazy things like when she got married to her high school sweetheart they went to LA to tie the knot. She got married in a Vivienne Holloway 1950's dress. Her favourite item is her wardrobe as she love dressing up. She said "I love to open my wardrobe. It makes me happy."

Out and about....Southbank Vintage

From Fashionistable
The Southbank on a sunny day is an amazing place to be at the best of times. But couple that with a Vintage festival and the place just sings. I was asking Trine if I could take her picture when I suddenly noticed she was with 3 other beautifully dressed people so of course I photographed them all.
From Fashionistable
Both these couples exude vintage glamour in the true sense of the word. They had just come from dancing in the main indoor part of the festival where Trine had just foxtrotted for the 1st time. Brian told me they all know each from meeting at different vintage events. The next one being a big replica 1936 weekend, New years Eve party. Bet it is going to be amazing. Trine is a stylist and told me that the best part of her day so far was being with lovely friends and the 22 piece band Ondrej Havelka and his Melody Makers. The ladies kept their vintage sources secret but Brian is mostly in 1950s attire and Gordon's look is from an earlier era and is comprised of 1930's linen trousers and a jacket which was found in a trunk from Indian colonial days. His wonderful battered bag is an old ammunition case from the war, the hat is a panama and shoes are1930s Oxfords.

This is Gordon and Envy do you remember them from here?

Out and about....classic vintage

From Fashionistable
It has been an amazing weekend for me one of my sisters and brother-in-laws were with me. It was my husbands birthday and as if that wasn't good enough the sun shone brightly on us and on the amazing vintage festival that happened on the Southbank in London this weekend. I met some wonderful people over the weekend and will spend this week bring you my shots from around the festival. Kicking of the week are Anne and Nick Robinson. They are from Ormskirk and the 1940's is their favourite era. Their love of vintage dressing grew from Anne's initial love of corsetry. Their beautiful suits were bought from a lady called Betty who runs The 1940's Room in Stafford, whom they had met at another vintage event. Nicks suit is an original 40's demob suit. The sole of his shoes still bore the original demob stamp. In their daily lives Anne is a Civil Servant and Nick works as a Military Consultant. Their surprises for me were that Anne keeps tarantulas’ and Nick has lived in the Arctic for a total of
9 months. This was spread over 3 years, first a 4 month and then a 5 month stint. The coldest temperature he has ever experienced was minus 73.
